John Curtis - On Air

There are some English speaking stations on the Costa Blanca & the one I work for can be heard worldwide via the Internet.

It is called Coast FM & for them (supplimented by "sitting in" for other presenters when indisposed)
I produce & present 2 shows over the Weekend. On Saturdays between 3pm & 7pm I am the host on their Sports Show (facts figures news up to date scores + contemporary music) but my real "baby" comes on Sundays. For 3 hours ,starting at 1pm, I present

The "BLACK & WHITE RADIO PROGRAMME" which is dedicated to the music of the 50s & 60s with information on the records & their performers. I research & prepare both shows -through this & the actual "one man" presentation style of the Station I finally got friendy with the computer!- & deliver them to our listeners WITH a prepared structure but WITHOUT a script. Phone ins , of course are a feature of this show which has taken on a "club" type atmosphere. I started this activity in 2005 & thoroughly enjoy it craving for more work of this kind! People phone in & E-mail or meet me in the street to say the kindest things about my shows which I find VERY touching -only wishing I had started all these things much earlier in my life!

Last year I made the first (I hope) of a series of music based documentaries. This was about the "Teenage Opera" phenominon of 1967 & was serialised on the Station over a three week holiday in September & runs for a total of 3 hours in CD form. Through this project I got to know & became a close friend ( to this day) of the Teenage Opera's creator Mark Wirtz which I consider a great honour!

My project this year is a documentary about the famous Pirate Radio staions in the Mid 1960s & the scripting is at last underway with a production date set for the autumn.
